Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:31 that whatever we do, we should do it all for the glory of God.
To see God glorified and His kingdom multiplied
Whether we’re setting up the gym for service on Sunday, cleaning up the school grounds, giving an offering to help a ministry in our community or overseas, or simply listening to someone with a hurting heart, our desire is to bring God glory. This also means we aren’t afraid to try new things and fail, or change something that isn’t working, because we realize it’s about glorifying God not us.
Towards the end of His earthly life, Jesus prayed and said - all He had done was to bring God glory: “I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do.” (John 17:4)
His kingdom multiplied
As Jesus spoke of God’s kingdom, He often used terms referring to multiplication, such as the seed in His parable in Matthew 13. God desires to multiply His Kingdom, and so do we, but we realize that life only comes about from Him.
As a church we want to be faithful to the mission God has given us in expectation of seeing His kingdom multiplied.
We elevate, study, and teach the scriptures because the Bible is our guide and final authority for faith and life.
Cornerstone’s elders shepherd the flock of God under their care (1 Peter 5:1-2). They model godliness (1 Timothy 3:2), provide oversight to ministries and empower/equip members to serve Christ.
We try to follow Christ’s example (Philippians 2:1-11) and we ask every member to serve in some capacity.
We are one inter-generational community of faith not a collection of age-graded groups. Because we all need each other, we spend time together serving, learning, worshiping and developing mutually-beneficial relationships.
Our leaders are men and women of godly character, who model Christlike service. They strive to be approachable, honest, and biblically literate.
Cornerstone is a repository where gifts given to the Lord are collected, stewarded and distributed to other churches, ministries, and community organizations with whom we have ongoing relationships.
In the essentials, unity.
In the non-essentials, liberty.
In everything, love.
We embrace three simple rules when it comes to doctrine:
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His future personal return in power and glory.
We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; those who are saved to eternal life with Christ and those who are lost to eternal damnation in hell.
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ
Statement of Faith*
As adopted by the National Association of Evangelicals
Cornerstone's elders have adopted positions on the following topics:
Sanctity of Human Life
We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life. (Ps 139.)
